If there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. – Philippians 4:8
You have probably heard the saying, “I can do it if I put my mind to it.” There are certainly some things in life that require more of one’s attention or concentration than others. Today’s verse from Philippians begins by listing what you should put your mind to, ” Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise.” It sounds simple, but a shift in focus is often necessary. The greatest benefit of changing your focus to think about these things is how it also changes your attitude… about what is happening in the world, in the nation, in your community, in your family, and in your own life. Learn to live in God’s peace that passes understanding (v. 7)!
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum each addressed the 43rd annual CERAWeek by S&P Global this week. The two members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet both spoke about tapping the resources of the U.S. and increasing energy production. Secretary Wright said, “We need more energy. Lots more energy. That much should be obvious.“
Pray for the attorney general and Justice Department officials as they seek to defend President Trump’s orders and policies in federal courts.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii blocked the Refugees Using Legal Entry Safely (RULES) Act introduced by Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio. She said, “We actually passed comprehensive immigration reform out of the Senate in 2013… when the bill got to the House it… didn’t pass.”
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they seek to reform immigration laws.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, chaired by Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, is holding an executive session this week to markup the GENIUS Act of 2025 and the Financial Integrity and Regulation Management (FIRM) Act. The legislation seeks to create guardrails for stablecoins, providing regulations for the sector and balancing federal and state oversight.
Pray for senators in the financial committees as they deliberate regulations for cryptocurrency.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A federal judge ruled that the U.S. DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) Service is subject to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. District Judge Christopher Cooper ordered DOGE and the Office of Management and Budget to provide estimates for the volume of records that would be covered by a watchdog organization’s request as well as a schedule for expedited processing.
Pray for wisdom for district judges as they hear challenges to the actions of the president’s administration.
As we lift up the federal government of United States of America, each day we will highlight one elected or appointed federal official serving in office. Pray with us for each of them as they tackle their unique responsibilities and fulfill their oaths of office.
“I yield thee humble and hearty thanks that thou hast preserved me from the dangers of the night past, and brought me to the light of this day, and the comforts thereof, a day which is consecrated to thine own service and for thine own honour. Let my heart, therefore Gracious God, be so affected with the glory and majesty of it, that I may not do mine own works, but wait on thee, and discharge weighty duties thou requirest of me; and since thou art a God of pure eyes, and wilt be sanctified in all who draw near unto thee, who doest not regard the sacrifice of fools, nor hear sinners who tread in thy courts, pardon, I beseech thee, my sins, remove them from thy presence, as far as the east is from the west, and accept of me for the merits of thy son Jesus Christ, that when I come into thy temple, and compass thine altar, my prayer may come before thee as incense.“

Pray for America’s Military
A U.S.-flagged ship anchored off the coast of the United Kingdom experienced a ruptured cargo tank and explosions after it was struck by a Portuguese container ship this week. The U.S. vessel was contracted by the Military Sealift Command to bring jet fuel to the U.S. military in support of the Defense Logistics Agency. A U.S. official reassured that “The collision and ensuing explosions will not impact operations or combat readiness.”
Pray for U.S. defense officials and contractors as they seek to maintain the military supply chain.
PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE
After U.S. and Ukrainian officials met in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to discuss peace between an end to the war, Ukraine expressed acceptance of a proposed 30-day ceasefire. The U.S. agreed to immediately share intelligence again and release military aid that had been paused.
Pray for President Trump and members of his diplomatic team as they seek a ceasefire agreement from Russia.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
Secretary of State Rubio called the U.S. special envoy’s direct talks with Hamas a “one-off situation.” Israeli officials were not in favor of the move. Now this effort to release the remaining hostages in Hamas’ captivity has reportedly been unsuccessful. After urging from President Trump’s administration, Israel is negotiating with Lebanon regarding the border shared by the two countries.
Pray for U.S. diplomatic officials as they seek to assist Israel in resolving conflicts with Hamas and Hezbollah.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., stated that “diabetes and other mitochondrial diseases are now costing America more than our military budget.” He said that Americans have been poisoning themselves with ultra-processed foods, calling for companies to switch to traditionally healthier ingredients.
Pray for Secretary Kennedy and HHS officials as they assess and seek to improve the state of public health.
Pray for Needs Across the States
The Nebraska legislature passed a bill that would define app-based drivers as independent contractors rather than employees of companies such as Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash. The legislation was introduced at the request of a ride-share company and now goes to the desk of Governor Jim Pillen to be signed into law.
Kansas legislators in the state house and senate overrode a veto from Governor Laura Kelly last month to protect minors from transgender medical procedures. The Help Not Harm Act prohibits doctors from prescribing cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers or performing transgender surgeries on minors.
Pray for state legislators as they evaluate the issues facing their states and determine strategies to address them.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
“This is the day that the Lord has made. We, His people, have chosen to rejoice in this day and be glad. … There’s something about God’s timing that many people either miss or many people don’t understand. Some people try to move ahead of God, and then they miss the right timing. Or some people lag behind, and so they’re not keeping up. You see, God’s timing is perfect. So God has a perfect timing that He has set for every person. … God’s timing is perfect. God wants you to wait on His timing. When we wait on God, He is preparing us. He is maturing you, He is elevating you. He’s giving you wisdom, He’s giving you understanding. He’s helping you to be prepared for what He’s about to bring to you.“ – Pastor Alice Smith, Welcome Home, March 2025
