- Newness of Life
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. – Galatians 2:20
If you have been a Christian for a while, there may seem to be nothing new in your life. You may work at the same job, be married to the same spouse, attend the same church, and speak similar prayers from day-to-day. After the initial salvation experience and learning how to live a Christ-like life, you may wonder, “What’s new?“ The reality is that you are continually made new in Christ.
The apostle Paul, in today’s verse, said that he had been crucified in Christ, and it was no longer him living, but Christ living within him. That kind of life can generate joy, excitement, and a sense of adventure even as you go about daily life. Paul stated that believers are called and designed for good works. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Living the life of Jesus means using our particular “bent,” gifts, talents, and resources to love God and others.
What desires has the Lord put in your heart? What are you passionate about? What are your talents? What have you received from God? How can you use those things to love the Lord and others? God calls you to be about those things, putting aside distractions and bad habits. Do your investments of time and money reflect God-given priorities? Keep prayer at the top of your to-do list. Ask the Lord to have His way in your life and this nation, and that people, including those in government, will turn their hearts and lives toward Him.
Today’s Verse: Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Recommended for further reading: Ephesians 2:1-10
2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
