President Donald Trump is hosting Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary at the White House today. They will discuss the Ukraine war and energy supplies, among other mutual concerns.

President Trump imposed “tremendous” sanctions on Russian oil and gas companies late last month in an effort to press Russia toward peace in Ukraine. The president said, “We hope that they won’t be on for long, we hope that the war will be settled.”
Hungary relies on Russia for much of its energy supply. After the sanctions were put in place, the Hungarian prime minister said he was working on “how to circumvent these sanctions.” He is expected to seek sanction exemptions to avoid exorbitant energy prices in his landlocked nation.

- What to Keep
Keep my teaching as the apple of your eye; bind them on your fingers. – Proverbs 7:2-3
Downsizing… could there be anything more daunting than sifting through your worldly goods, sorting them into groups of “trash,” “donate,” or “keep?” While some find reorganization rejuvenating, most people stress a bit in the process.
As various jurisdictions in the U.S. move into days of new leadership, there will be a natural restructuring. While some policies from the past are better left to fall away, America’s Christian heritage is a critical structure, the lifeblood of society, and it must be kept. But does a divided nation do this?
The apostle Paul set an example. In his choice to follow Christ, he went from a high position in Jewish society to a prisoner, jailed by his former colleagues. Some actually sought to put him to death for his confessions of faith. Yet he counted the cost of his discipleship and deemed it worth keeping.
“Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith, that I may know him and the power of his resurrection” (Philippians 3:8-10).
Pray that U.S. governing officials see the nation’s Christian heritage as valuable, and worth keeping. Ask that believers serving in government will be like Paul, choosing to proclaim their faith despite the cost.
Today’s Verse: Proverbs 7:2-3
keep my commandments and live;
keep my teaching as the apple of your eye;
bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.All Scripture quotations and audio are from the ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. Used by permission. All rights reserved.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5 As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
