Avi Berkowitz
Assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Negotiations
Avrahm “Avi” Berkowitz was born in November 1988, and grew up in Lawrence, New York. After graduating from an Orthodox Jewish high school, he studied at Kol Torah, a yeshiva in Jerusalem. He returned to the U.S., studied at a yeshiva in Baltimore, and transferred to Queens College where he completed his undergraduate work. He later received a Juris Doctor from Harvard University’s law school.
Berkowitz met Jared Kushner at a pickup basketball game at a Passover retreat in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked for the Kushner Companies, and joined the White House staff after the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
He has served as Special Assistant to the President, Assistant to the Senior Advisor, Deputy Assistant to the President, and Advisor to the Senior Advisor, Jared Kushner. In November 2019, Berkowitz was promoted to Assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Relations.
He is an Orthodox Jew and speaks fluent Hebrew.

Senior officials at the White House are seeking to use the momentum from a historic deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates to appeal to more Arab and Muslim countries to set aside long-standing tensions and make similar agreements.
Jared Kushner, Senior Advisor to the President, and Avi Berkowitz, an envoy to the Middle East, are making the case to other countries that improved ties with Israel could have economic benefits and help counter Iranian influence in the region.
Berkowitz is working on the implementation of the Abraham Accord, and the further peace proposal of President Trump, including conducting meetings with interlocutors preparing for possible Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank. More discussions between Jerusalem and Washington are needed for annexation to take place, as are gestures toward the Palestinians.
