Stand Firm

Challenges remind us of the foundation of our faith.

2 Corinthians 1:24 – Stand firm in your faith.

Is your faith being challenged? Are you faltering in the face of the world’s view of you?

Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you are not firm in faith, you will not be firm at all.” It is critical that you have committed your life to Jesus Christ, and then that you are faithful to spend time in God’s Word. Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever according to Hebrews 1:38, an Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”  You can have absolute confidence in Christ and God’s Word.

Part of standing firm involves resisting the onslaughts of Satan. “Resist him, stand firm in your faith,” it says in 1 Peter 5:8-9.  Put on that spiritual armor of Ephesians 6, so that you may withstand him.

Finally, banish doubt.  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind” (James 1:5-6).

Pray With Us

Heavenly Father, I sometimes feel like the man in the Gospels who said, ‘Lord I believe. Help my unbelief.’ My faith can sometimes waver. I don’t mean it to do that, but I get caught up in the circumstances of the world, I wonder what it is You are doing, and even if my prayers are heard.  I feel so burdened by the things of this world, the coming election, the lies that are going back and forth like watching a ping pong game, that I neglect time with You—time that reassures me, comforts me, and enables me to stand firm. By Your Holy Spirit, give more power to my faith today so that I might stand strong for You and not be swayed like the sea driven by the wind. Thank You for Your love,

Amen.
