Secret Services Arrests Two Suspects in Theft of DHS Secretary’s Purse

The Secret Service confirmed Sunday that two suspects were arrested over the weekend for robbing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. Both men were reportedly in the U.S. illegally, having been given notice of expedited removal from the U.S. Border Patrol.

Secretary Noem’s purse was stolen on Easter Sunday from a Washington, D.C. restaurant. Investigators say security footage showed a masked suspect taking the DHS secretary’s designer purse from under her seat. The bag contained her driver’s license, passport, DHS badge, cash, and credit cards.

Matt McCool, the Secret Service special agent in charge at the Washington field office, said the “investigation revealed alleged criminal activity, including potential device and credit card fraud” by the suspect. “The defendant was taken into custody without incident in the District of Columbia,” Agent McCool said.

The Secret Service later arrested a second suspect with “a pattern of robberies and theft” in Washington, D.C.. Prosecutors filed federal robbery and wire fraud charges against the first suspect, a Chilean national, on Monday.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Noem to seek God’s direction as she heads the Department of Homeland Security.
  • For DHS, ICE, and Secret Service officials as they work together on the robbery case.
  • For wisdom for judges as they hear criminal cases against illegal aliens.
