He expressed unhappiness, stating that it was “not necessary and very bad timing.”
On Thursday, President Donald Trump denounced Russia’s deadly attack against Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv. A barrage of missiles and drones targeted the city for about an hour earlier that day, killing at least 12 people and injuring 90. It was the most deadly attack against Kyiv since July of last year.
“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying,” President Trump stated. “Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”
Ending Russia’s attack on Ukraine has been a priority of President Trump’s second term, and federal officials have worked to achieve that goal by reaching out to Russia with more friendly gestures than previous administrations. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is scheduled to meet with President Putin in Moscow on Friday. It will be the fourth time the envoy has met with the Russian president.
