White House stands behind Secretary Hegseth as reports of second Signal chat leak have been published.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the evidence uncovered in the leak investigation at the Pentagon is being referred to the Department of Justice for prosecution. The probe resulted in the placement of three defense officials on administrative leave.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president “stands strongly behind Secretary Hegseth” as reports of a second Signal chat leak were published by the press.
“Secretary Hegseth was nominated for this position because he is standing up for the men and women in uniform who are putting their lives on the line to protect our country and our homeland,” the press secretary said. “Unfortunately, there have been people at the [Pentagon] who don’t like the change, so they are leaking and they are lying to the mainstream media.”
Responding to claims that he disclosed classified material or information via Signal chat, the defense secretary said, “What was shared over Signal, then and now, however you characterize it, was informal, unclassified coordinations, for media coordination, other things.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Hegseth to be discerning as he reviews the investigation on leaks to the press from within the Pentagon.
- For President Trump and members of his administration as they seek to make changes throughout the federal agencies.
- For wisdom for U.S. officials as they work to reduce government overhead, including the federal workforce.
