Issue 696 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The U.S. and the Philippines are engaged in their annual Balikatan exercises, this year with full-scale combat drills that simulate repelling an attack against the Philippine archipelago. U.S. Marine Corps Lt. General James Glynn said, “It’s all dedicated to one purpose, to ensure the defense of the Philippines and to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

Pray for U.S. military commanders and personnel as they conduct battle drills with the Philippine armed forces.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have said the U.S. will walk away from negotiations if progress on a peace agreement is not made with Ukraine and Russia. The U.S. has proposed that Russia keep Crimea, which was annexed over a decade ago, and several areas that it currently occupies in Ukraine. President Zelensky has objected to those concessions, stating that giving away the territory goes against the nation’s Constitution.

Pray for U.S. officials who are involved in talks regarding peace in Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The Houthis of Yemen took responsibility for missile and drone attacks against Haifa and Tel Aviv, Israel. The Houthis claimed that the attacks would continue until military operations stop in Gaza and aid is released. The Israeli Defense Force has conducted drills to simulate a missile strike from Iran to assess and improve readiness in case nuclear discussions fail.

Pray for U.S. and Israeli officials as they assess options to reduce conflicts in the Middle East.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. directed food makers this week to remove eight petroleum-based food dyes from their products by the end of next year. “Why gamble with the health of our children?” Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Martin Makary asked. “Why not err on the side of safety?“

Pray for Secretary Kennedy and Commissioner Makary as they seek to remove artificial chemical substances from the U.S. food supply.

Pray for Needs Across the States

The Alabama State House has approved legislation that would require the Ten Commandments to be displayed in common areas and classrooms where history is taught in K-12 public schools. The bill’s sponsor said, “This is about returning foundational principles to schools to be taught.”

A jury in North Dakota ruled last month that the environmental group Greenpeace must pay a Texas-based company $660 million in damages for its role in obstructing the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The organization was accused of paying people to protest the pipeline and spreading false information about the project.

Pray for state officials as they assess the risks and benefits of educational and environmental policies.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“The theme of overcoming is consistent in the letters to the seven churches in Asia Minor [in Revelation 2]. Christ promised blessings of various sorts to the churches whose members would overcome the resistance they experienced in the world…
To the church at Thyatira, Christ promised two things: They would rule with Him over the nations, and they would be united with Him when He returned (Revelation 2:26-28). Jesus promised His disciples that they would rule with Him in His Kingdom (Matthew 19:28), a promise later affirmed by Paul (2 Timothy 2:12). Christ also said He would give them “the morning star” (Revelation 2:28)—apparently a reference to Himself: “the Bright and Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16).
We should take these two promises as our own and see them as motivation for overcoming the world. We who are faithful with little in this world will be given much in the world to come (Matthew 25:21). Whatever is before you today, remember that you can overcome through the power of Christ.”
