The special envoy and secretary of state are now in Paris for discussions with French officials.
U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff received details from Russian President Vladimir Putin last week that outlined his vision for a peace deal with Ukraine. Envoy Witkoff engaged in his third meeting with President Putin for five hours in St. Petersberg.
“It was a compelling meeting,” Envoy Witkoff said. “And toward the end, we actually came up with — I’m going to say ‘finally,’ but I don’t mean it in the way that we were waiting, I mean it in the way that it took a while for us to get to this place — what Putin’s request is to get, to have a permanent peace here.”
“So, beyond a ceasefire,” he added. “We got an answer to that.”
The special envoy also indicated possible future trade partnerships between the U.S. and Russia. “On top of that, I believe there’s a possibility to reshape the Russian-United States relationship through some very compelling commercial opportunities that I think give real stability to the region too,” he said.
Envoy Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are meeting with President Macron and Foreign Minister Barrot in France this week.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Envoy Witkoff to receive God’s direction as he pursues peace between Russia and Ukraine.
- For Secretary Rubio to be discerning as he discusses details to end the Ukraine War.
