The California senator is a former prosecutor.
Former vice president Joe Biden has named U.S. Senator Kamala Harris of California as his running mate, staying to his promise to select a woman of color as the nominee.
Senator Harris, 55 years old, is the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants. Earlier, she was a candidate for president but her candidacy failed to catch on, and she dropped out in December. An attorney, Harris previously served six years as the District Attorney of San Francisco before being elected Attorney General of California, where she served until her election to the Senate.
She is married to Douglas Ernhoff, an attorney, and is stepmother to his two children from a prior marriage. In her youth, she attended both a black Baptist church and a Hindu temple.

- For the political conventions and all of the virtual aspects that need to sorted out before they begin.
