Today is the deadline for Pentagon leaders, combatant commanders, and defense agency and Defense Department field activity directors to submit plans to reduce the civilian workforce to the Pentagon personnel undersecretary.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a memo late last month requiring the submission of proposed “future-state organizational chart[s]” that include “functional areas and consolidated management hierarchies with positional titles and counts clearly depicted” to “reduce duplication and excessive bureaucracy.” The defense secretary stated the workforce reduction goal is to “maximize” voluntary retirements and “minimize the number of involuntary actions.”
The United States Sentencing Commission, chaired by Judge Carleton Reeves. is holding an open meeting today at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the defense secretary and personnel undersecretary as they seek to encourage voluntary resignations and retirements from the civilian workforce.
- For discernment for Judge Reeves as he presides over the Sentencing Commission meeting.
- For President Trump and members of the administration as they pursue strategies to improve the nation’s economy as well as government efficiency.
