60 Members of Congress “Concerned” by EPA Employee Reduction

They wrote a letter to EPA Administrator Zelding warning against planned firings.

Over 60 members of the House minority party signed a letter sent to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, urging him not to enact plans to eliminate up to 75 percent of employees at the agency’s Office of Research and Development (ORD).

“Firing nearly 1,200 dedicated ORD public servants across the country would decimate the scientific backbone of EPA which provides independent, objective, and unparallelled research that informs Agency assessments and decision-making,” the legislators said. The EPA confirmed that it received and will review the letter.

After the EPA’s planned mass firing was reported last week, the agency stated that it is considering reducing its research and development workforce and that its review process is ongoing.

“While no decisions have been made yet, we are actively listening to employees at all levels to gather ideas on how to better fulfill agency statutory obligations, increase efficiency, and ensure the EPA is as up-to-date and effective as ever,” EPA spokesperson Molly Vaseliou stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Administrator Zeldin to receive God’s wisdom as he reduces the Environmental Protection Agency workforce.
  • That members of Congress adhere to federal law regarding executive powers and authority.
