Federal Judge Assigned to Federal Signal Chat Lawsuit

Alongside the Signal case, the judge is now overseeing two cases including deportation of Venezuelan men.

U.S. District Court Judge James Boasberg has been assigned the lawsuit against top Trump officials’ use of the Signal messaging app on Wednesday. Judge Boasberg had previously been assigned a case regarding the deportation of five Venezuelan men, and his order in that case preventing their deportation has led President Donald Trump and other in Congress to call for his impeachment.

This latest lawsuit was filed by government watchdog group American Oversight, which argues that administration officials violated the Federal Records Act (FRA) by holding high-level discussions on the Signal app.

There is a setting on Signal that deletes all its chats after a certain number of weeks, and agency officials had that setting on for their group chat. American oversight claims that the deletion of these texts constitutes an “unlawful destruction of federal records” under FRA rules, which mandates all federal communications “be preserved and safeguarded against removal or loss.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That the Lord to guide and direct all federal judges in America to seek to accomplish God’s perfect justice.
  • For God to give divine discernment to all who are in the federal court system.
  • For President Trump and administration officials to seek God’s heart as they create policies and lead the nation.
