Secretaries Kennedy and Rollins seek transparency through the line-by-line review.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a joint statement this week announcing a review of the previous administration’s Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA).
The decision was made at the first meeting between USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., where they pledged a “line-by-line” review of the guidelines by the end of this year. The secretaries also intend to finalize both documents before the end of this year, as well as “holistic process improvements to ensure transparency and minimize any conflicts of interest.”
“The Trump-Vance Administration supports transformational opportunities to create and implement policies that promote healthy choices, healthy families, and healthy outcomes,” Secretary Rollins stated.
The federal government updates the dietary guidelines regularly, and President Biden’s administration released the nutritional guidelines for 2020-2025 at the start of his term. This review by President Donald Trump’s administration will be conducted alongside the development of new guidelines, which will offer recommendations for 2025-2030.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretaries Rollins and Kennedy as they oversee the review of the nutritional guidelines.
- For USDA and HHS officials as they seek to ensure that Americans receive information that supports healthy food choices.
