House Passes Continuing Resolution

The seven-month funding bill now goes to the Senate where its outcome is uncertain.

The House of Representatives passed the continuing resolution on Tuesday to keep the government funded through September 30. The stopgap measure would reduce non-defense spending by around $13 billion and increase funding for defense by approximately $6 billion.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said, “You can all read the bills’ 99 pages. This clean CR contains no poison pill riders. No policy riders there at all. No cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security. Zero. No cuts to veterans benefit benefits. Zero. In fact, as was noted, we plus up the accounts for veterans.”

Representative Andy Harris of Maryland said, “Congress must keep the government open so that DOGE can continue to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. This continuing resolution is necessary to advance President Trump’s agenda.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president as he advocates for the continuing resolution to support his agenda.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider the measure to avoid a government shutdown.
