The negotiations with Russia continue.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other U.S. officials met with Ukrainian representatives in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to discuss ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. The talks have produced willingness from Ukraine to accept a 30-day ceasefire.
The State Department released a joint U.S. and Ukraine statement, saying, “Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace.”
“We’ve made an offer that the Ukrainians have accepted, which is to enter into a ceasefire and into immediate negotiations to end this conflict in a way that’s enduring and sustainable,” Secretary Rubio said. “What’s back on track is hopefully peace. This is very serious… what we’re leaving here today with is a commitment from the Ukrainians to stop fighting.”
National Security Advisor Michael Waltz said that, as a result, the “President has decided to lift the pause on aid and our security assistance to Ukraine going forward, and that’s effectively immediately.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Rubio and Advisor Waltz as they engage in diplomatic efforts to bring peace.
- For wisdom for President Trump and his advisors as they seek to end international conflicts.
