The agency is considering rescinding the $590 million contract awarded by President Biden’s administration.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed that it is reevaluating a $590 million contract awarded to Moderna to develop a human bird flu vaccine.
Federal agencies have been tracking and addressing the H5N1 strain of the bird flu in American livestock which was transmitted to a few humans in the last year. The previous administration approved the contract to develop a vaccine at the end of its term, but the federal health department of President Trump’s administration is reviewing the measure as part of its cost-cutting agenda.
“While it is crucial that the U.S. Department and Health and Human Services support pandemic preparedness, four years of the Biden administration’s failed oversight have made it necessary to review agreements for vaccine production,” a Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesperson stated.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Secretary Kennedy as he manages the Department of Health and Human Services.
- For U.S. health officials as they review and assess contracts and programs from the previous administration.
