Be renewed in the spirit of your minds. – Ephesians 4:23
The longer you are a Christian, the more you become aware that your actions are a result of your thoughts. Along with the renewal the apostle wrote of in today’s verse, Paul stated, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2). This renewal must take place every day. Just as you physically eat each day, it is vital to consume daily spiritual meals by reading your Bible and praying, lest you forget what those good, acceptable and perfect things within the will of God are.
God said through the prophet Isaiah, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). He also stated, “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11). Paul wrote, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26).
As you study the Scriptures, you become assured that you are praying according to God’s will as you intercede for the country, leaders, and citizens. Jesus said, “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” (Matthew 21:22).
