The White House informed media outlets that Amy Gleason is serving as the acting administrator of the U.S. DOGE Service (DOGE), responding to repeated questions on the subject. She is a long-term official who was in the United States Digital Service President Trump transformed to government efficiency efforts.
President Trump’s administration has explained that Elon Musk is a Special Advisor to the president, separate from DOGE operations. DOGE personnel are performing audits and revealing information on government payments and disbursements.
Journalists raised questions regarding the leadership of DOGE after the White House disclosed in a court filing last week that Musk is not technically part of the USDS, despite the billionaire regularly commenting on its activities.
