Administrator Zeldin says the EPA seeks to accommodate states not ready to implement the change.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced will maintain its April 28, 2025, start date for year-round E15 sales in eight Midwestern states, following requests from the states’ governors. This decision is intended to provide fuel suppliers with regulatory stability and increase consumer access to E15.
“Today’s decision underscores EPA’s commitment to consumer access to E15 while ensuring a smooth transition for fuel suppliers and refiners,” said Administrator Zeldin. “Our approach provides certainty for states that are ready to move forward with year-round E15 while accommodating those that requested additional time. We will continue working with all stakeholders to ensure available and affordable fuel supply.”
Ohio has already requested a one-year delay.
While the current timeline remains, Congress is exploring legislative solutions to make E15 available year-round nationwide. In the absence of new legislation, the EPA may use emergency fuel waivers to prevent supply disruptions and shield consumers from price spikes. The agency continues to monitor market conditions and aims to support long-term fuel availability while balancing state-specific needs.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Administrator Zeldin to be led by the Lord as he leads the Environmental Protection Agency.
- For EPA officials as they collaborate on the implementation of the year-round E15 availability with the states.
