President Trump Supports House Draft Budget

The vice president met with Senate leadership regarding the two government funding bills.

Vice President JD Vance met with Senate leaders on Wednesday, telling them to move forward on approving their version of a U.S. budget resolution even though President Donald Trump indicated strong support for the House’s version of the bill.

The House majority is expecting to pass a budget resolution and a number of legislative items in President Trump’s agenda all in one bill. They developed their proposal without input from the House minority party or Senate majority. The vote on the legislation is scheduled for next week after they return from recess.

The Senate’s two-bill plan would approve parts of the budget and policies in waves. Senate leadership decided to vote on this two-bill plan this week instead of next week.

“The House, as you know, is not here this week,” Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said after the lunch meeting with Vice President Vance. “If that bill had already been passed, that would be a different discussion.”

“We are moving forward with reconciliation tomorrow… moving forward to pass the shared agenda that we have with the White House,” Senator Barrasso said.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For House Speaker Johnson to be discerning as he oversees the lower chamber vote of government funding this coming week.
  • For Majority Leader Thune and other senators as they prepare to vote on the two budget bills.
