The House has drafted a single piece of legislation while the Senate has two bills.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson reasserted his confidence in the House’s massive budget and policy legislation even as the Senate majority developed a separate pitch.
“We remain laser-focused on sending our bill to President Trump’s desk to secure the border, keep taxes low, restore American energy dominance, strengthen America’s military, and make government work better for all Americans,” Speaker Johnson stated on Tuesday. “The American people gave us a mandate and we MUST deliver.”
The House abandoned legislative negotiations last week, choosing to develop a single bill that would establish both the 2025 budget and key policies to support President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Since then, Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced that the Senate would vote on a budget resolution later this week, which proposes a two-bill solution for the 2025 budget, one for border and defense issues and the other for enacting a variety of tax cuts. The resolution made it to the Senate floor after the Senate Budget Committee voted for its approval along party lines.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the House speaker as he promotes the single bill drafted by his chamber’s majority.
- For the Senate majority leader as he brings the budget bills to the floor for a vote.
