Ken Buck
U.S. Representative for Colorado
Kenneth Robert Buck was born in February 1959 in Ossining, New York. He earned an undergraduate degree in politics from Princeton University. He moved west and worked in Wyoming at the state legislative services offices. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law.
He was hired by Congressman Dick Cheney to work on the Iran-Contra investigation, and thereafter worked as a prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. He joined the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado and became chief of the Criminal Division. Fourteen years later, he was elected District Attorney for Weld County, Colorado. He made an unsuccessful run for the United States Senate. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2014.
Twice married and divorced, Buck has two adult children. He is a Christian.

Colorado Representative Ken Buck believes questioning big tech executives about their industry’s alleged bias is appropriate because their bias and anti-competitive behavior are inextricably linked. Bias should be closely examined at the House Judiciary Committee, he said. If tech companies monopolize the industry and reduce the number of platforms, then they can also limit options for those who worry tech companies are biased.
“If these platforms weren’t so large and dominant the bias issues would not be important,” he said. He offered an example. “I can get my news from MSNBC and I can get my news from Fox, both biased. I know that there is a slant in every one of them, and being somewhat sophisticated in the area, I know what the slant is before I go in and take news from the organization.
“When you control the platform to such an extent and you have bias as in the case of Facebook, for example, then you have issues about freedom, so I think the bias and privacy issues are both related to the anti-competitive behavior. It’s relevant because of the fact these platforms are so dominant.”
