In the News…
Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Representative Andy Ogles introduced the Bringing Oversight to Washington and Safety to Every Resident (BOWSER) Act in the Senate and House this month. The legislation seeks to end the District of Columbia Rule Act after the rise in violent crime, corruption, and non-citizens voting in elections.
“The corruption, crime, and incompetence of the D.C. government has been an embarrassment to our nation’s capital for decades,” said Senator Lee. “It is long past time that Congress restored the honor and integrity of George Washington to the beautiful city which bears his name.”
Congress has the authority to manage the nation’s capital under the Constitution. The legislation would repeal the D.C. Home Rule Act a year after its passage.
