The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. – Nahum 1:7
A Safe Refuge
This year has already been eventful, between the change in presidential administrations, frigid winter storms, and continued recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene and the California wildfires. When you face difficulties, be they natural or manmade disasters, illness, or relational issues, remember that the Lord is your stronghold. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation (or trouble). But take heart, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus also told His followers, “Let not your heart be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27). God instructs you to respond to troubles in life by embracing total dependence upon Him and calling upon His name. Recognizing your need to utterly rely upon the Lord helps to sort out your priorities, including your relationship with Him, with family, and with friends. This dependence also brings you peace, for He is your refuge, working all things together for your good as you love Him (Romans 8:28).
