President Trump Warns Iran to Not Target U.S. Officials

He issued a memorandum placing maximum pressure on that nation.

President Donald Trump stated last week that Iran would “be obliterated” if they were to target any current or former U.S. government official, or anyone “close” to them.

The president issued a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) to restore maximum pressure on the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The move is intended to keep Iran from producing a nuclear weapon and counter Iran’s influence.

The memorandum imposes economic pressure through the Treasury Department via sanctions or enforcement upon those violating current sanctions.

The president also directed the attorney general “to investigate, disrupt, and prosecute financial and logistical networks, operatives, or front groups inside the United States that are sponsored by Iran or an Iranian terror proxy.“

Former Defense Secretary Mark Esper reportedly had his security detail revoked on Tuesday. Esper had previously served as President Trump’s Pentagon chief from July 2019 until November 2020 and was given a security detail after Iran threatened retaliation against him for the killing of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Attorney General Bondi as she oversees the investigation into any Iranian groups within the U.S.
  • For Secretary Bessent as he assesses the sanctions in place against Iran and other financial leverage to prevent that nation from obtaining nuclear weapons.
  • For the Lord’s protection for President Trump and current and former U.S. officials from threats from the Iranian government.
