The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever. – Psalm 119:160
Is there something about you that inspires confidence in yourself? Is it your skills and abilities, the depth of care you have for others, your own physical wellbeing, or, perhaps, your internal dialog—the things you say to yourself? What about your faith? Do you have confidence in your spiritual life?
Today’s verse affirms that you can have absolute confidence in the Word of God. You can trust the Scriptures in matters of life, direction, and security. As Psalm 119:89 says, “Forever, O Lord, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” The Apostle Paul reminds you in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
How much confidence does it give you to know that every word of God is true and lasting? One commentary says, “By recognizing that God’s Word is enduring, the believer can find solace amidst adversities and challenges. This foundation of righteousness assures believers that their endeavors and struggles are meaningful when aligned with divine principles.”
There is one hundred percent certainty in the Lord’s truth. Charles Haddon Spurgeon said the truth of God remains “irreversible in every case. … There is not one single mistake either in the word of God or in the providential dealings of God. … All God’s judgments, decrees, commands, and purposes are righteous, and as righteous things are lasting things, every one of them will outlive the stars.”
Changes are coming at a rapid pace with the new administration in Washington. Some may put you “off balance,” or “out of sorts.” Regardless of whether you are for or against the shifts in policy, return to God’s enduring Word. Make it your daily standard for faith and conduct. Paul told Timothy, “Continue in what you have learned“ (2 Timothy 3:14). And be sure to put the Word of God that you read or hear into practice (James 1:22). So as the Word of the Lord comforts, encourages, and challenges you in doing His will, trust and be confident in His truth.

Oh how I love your law!
It is my meditation all the day.
98 Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies,
for it is ever with me.
99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,
for your testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understand more than the aged,
for I keep your precepts.
101 I hold back my feet from every evil way,
in order to keep your word.
102 I do not turn aside from your rules,
for you have taught me.
103 How sweet are your words to my taste,
sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through your precepts I get understanding;
therefore I hate every false way.
