President’s Administration Dismisses Members of 2 EPA Oversight Boards

Requests that members nominate replacements for the panels.

President Trump’s administration dismissed all members of two boards within the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  The Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) and the Science Advisory Board (SAB) are two of the most influential panels within the EPA. Scientists and other officials provide input into EPA policies, often compiling reports for the EPA’s proposed rules. These scientists often shape EPA policy.

“A request for nominations to the SAB and CASAC will be announced in the coming weeks, and we encourage all members to reapply,” then-acting administrator James Payne stated last week.

An EPA spokesperson stated, “The decision to reset these federal advisory committees emphasizes the importance of SAB and CASAC to EPA’s mission of protecting human health and the environment and seeks to reverse the politicization of SAB and CASAC made by the previous Administration.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin as he oversees the agency.
  • For the members of the EPA as they nominate scientists and other officials to guide the EPA.
