Transportation Secretary Seeks to Rescind Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards

He released a rulemaking memo to the General Counsel, the Undersecretary for Policy, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy signed a memo as soon as he was sworn into office to start the rulemaking process of rescinding the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. The move is designed to lift the de-facto electric vehicle mandate from the previous administration.

The Transportation Department noted, “As a result of the regulatory costs, fuel economy standards have diminished the strength of America’s auto industry and denied Americans the full range of affordable vehicles they need.“

Secretary Duffy stated, “The memorandum signed today specifically reduces the burdensome and overly restrictive fuel standards that have needlessly driven up the cost of a car in order to push a radical Green New Deal agenda. The American people should not be forced to sacrifice choice and affordability when purchasing a new car.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for Secretary Duffy as he implements the president’s agenda for the economy.
  • For the president and his Cabinet to seek God’s direction as they make policy changes.
