All minority members voted against the nominee in protest of President Trump’s federal spending freeze.
The Senate confirmed Sean Duffy as the new Secretary of Transportation on Tuesday, though the entirety of the minority party cast no votes to protest the White House’s order to freeze federal funding programs.
The new secretary, a former House representative, had received unanimous approval in preliminary confirmation votes up until this point. The majority ensured that Mr. Duffy was still approved in the final vote despite the minority party’s collective protest.
The object of the protest became a moot point since President Trump’s Office of Management and Budget rescinded the financial assistance freeze after a federal judge placed a temporary block on it.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for Secretary Duffy as he takes office as head of the Transportation Department.
- For President Trump and his administration officials as they seek ways to stop the increase of the national debt.
