Energy Department Resumes LNG Export Reviews Reserving Pause

The acting energy secretary has instructed a realignment of the fossil energy and carbon management office’s evaluations.

The Department of Energy (DOE) has lifted the pause on reviewing liquefied natural gas (LNG) export applications, resuming regular operations as directed under President Donald Trump’s energy policy. The Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) will evaluate pending applications to export LNG to countries without free trade agreements (FTAs) with the U.S. under the Natural Gas Act.

The department has extended the deadline for public comments on its recent multi-volume LNG export study from February 18, 2025, to March 20, 2025, to ensure adequate feedback is considered.

Acting Energy Secretary Ingrid Kolb has instructed the FECM to align its review process with ongoing multi-agency National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) evaluations. The integration intends to reduce inefficiencies while maintaining thorough administrative records.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Acting Energy Secretary Kolb as she oversees changes in the department’s approach to energy management.
  • For members of the Senate as they consider President Trump’s nominee for Energy Secretary, Chris Wright.
