New projects are intended to support rural economies, reduce energy costs, and strengthen energy independence.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently allocated nearly $180 million to support 586 projects to expand clean energy systems and increase biofuel availability across 42 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This funding under the Inflation Reduction Act includes $120 million for farmers and small businesses under the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) to adopt energy-efficient systems like solar, wind, and advanced lighting.
The Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP) will also distribute $60 million to enhance biofuel infrastructure in 24 states. This includes grants to fueling stations to install ethanol dispensers and storage tanks, such as EZ Petroleum’s project in California, which will increase ethanol sales by over 391,000 gallons annually.
Secretary Vilsack said, “By expanding access to homegrown biofuels and clean energy systems, we are making long-lasting investments that will strengthen our energy independence, address the impacts of climate change and create new market opportunities and revenue streams for American producers while bringing good-paying jobs to rural communities.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president-elect’s nominee for USDA secretary Brooke Rollins to seek God’s guidance through the Senate confirmation process.
- For USDA officials as they promote clean energy and biofuel availability.
