House Passes Bill to Protect Women and Girls in Sports

The measure had also passed the chamber in the previous Congress.

The House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls Act this week. The measure would prohibit male athletes who identify as females from competing.

The bill would “amend the Education Amendments of 1972 to provide that for purposes of determining compliance with Title IX of such Act in athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” The legislation would apply to all recipients of federal aid.

Under the bill, the comptroller general would conduct a study to evaluate “the adverse psychological, developmental, participatory, and sociological results to girls of allowing males to compete, be members of a sports team, or participants in athletic programs, that are designed for girls.”

Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama reintroduced the same act in the Senate last week.

The senator said of Title IX, “It levels the playing field by creating opportunities for women to compete and earn the same scholarships as men.” He added that President Biden’s administration “has done all it can to dismantle Title IX protections for women in favor of radical gender ideology.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for members of the Senate as they consider the bill to protect women and girls from having to compete with biological males.
  • For the House speaker and Senate majority leader to be led by God as they preside over their respective chambers.
  • For healing and recovery for the girls and women who have been injured by transgender athletes in their athletic events.
