The hush money sentence amounts to no punishment as President Trump will take office in 10 days.
New York Judge Juan Merchan sentenced President-elect Donald Trump with an unconditional discharge, essentially requiring no punishment for the felony conviction handed down by a jury last May. The sentence had been delayed several times after the judge postponed the original date in July 2024.
The judge stated, “After careful analysis and obedience of government mandates, pursuant of law, the court feels the only sentence is an unconditional discharge, which is a lawful and permissible sentence for falsifying business records.”
Judge Merchan added, “I impose that sentence for all 34 counts, and sir, I wish you godspeed as you pursue your second term in office.”
President Trump has maintained his innocence throughout the process. His lawyers have filed an appeal in the case.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump and members of his incoming administration to seek God’s direction as they plan their agenda.
- For federal, state, and local judges to be discerning as they deliberate cases and isssue rulings.
