Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office provides the latest report.
The Department of Defense reported that its artificial intelligence (AI) office successfully concluded a pilot program that tested popular AI chatbots for use in military medicine.
The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) was formed in 2022 to lead military research into potential AI applications. In this pilot program, over 200 employees tested three Large-Language Models (LLM), like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, and found they could effectively summarize clinical notes and issue medical advisories.
“Since applying GenAI (generative AI) for such purposes within the DoD is in earlier stages of piloting and experimentation, this program acts as an essential pathfinder for generating a mass of testing data, surfacing areas for consideration, and validating mitigation options that will shape future research, development, and assurance of GenAI systems that may be deployed in the future,” remarked CDAO’s lead for this initiative, Dr. Matthew Johnson.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Dr. Johnson as he fulfills his role as Acting Chief of Responsible AI.
- For discernment for U.S. defense officials as they test artificial intelligence applications in military programs.
