Today, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will attend the memorial service for former President Jimmy Carter at the National Cathedral. Vice President Kamala Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will also attend.
The president and first lady will travel to Rome, Italy, this evening. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also head to Italy from France.
Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Rena Bitter is in Israel today. She has been meeting with U.S. Embassy staff in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to tour consular operations and meet with U.S. citizens in Israel impacted by the Israel-Hamas conflict. She is also meeting with Israeli officials regarding the recent killing of U.S. citizens.
