Issue 681 – Federal Branches

Praying for Our Leaders in Government

Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has known that China has the capability to knock out America’s critical infrastructure, including the power grid and ports, for over a year. He stated, “We have made considerable progress, but serious vulnerabilities remain in sectors where we don’t have mandatory cybersecurity requirements.”

Pray for national security officials as they assess the U.S.’ vulnerabilities and propose solutions.

Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, with the support of Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, successfully added an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act last month that requires newly commissioned military officers to receive training on the Constitution before they assume their first leadership position. The Defense Department will need to ensure new officers understand the oath under the Constitution and how the founding document is “relevant to military service.“

For members of the House and Senate to be discerning in their introduction and sponsorship of legislation.

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio, requested information from 60 companies regarding their connection with climate organizations. The committee is investigating the influence of the organizations on companies’ policies and asset management strategies, particularly environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, which would violate antitrust laws.

Pray for committee chairs and members to be led by the Lord as they seek to hold publicly held companies accountable for illegal activity.

Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges

The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled to reinstate the case of pro-life organizations challenging a New York law that would require them to employ staff that do not agree with their philosophy. A district court had dismissed the First Amendment case surrounding the labor law which prohibits “discrimination based on an employee’s or a dependent’s reproductive health decision making.”

Pray for federal justices and judges as they review and determine the constitutionality of states’ actions and decisions.
