Listen to Your Shepherd
A few years ago, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington told a men’s conference in Orlando what God had been telling him to do, and it did not have anything to do with the entertainment industry. “’Feed my sheep.’ That’s what God wants me to do,” he said. The actor said he hears God telling him what to do every time he prays. He admitted that his response to this command of the Lord was to question what He meant. But, the actor continued, “What I found out in the last couple of years is there are all kinds of sheep. So that’s why I talk to experienced shepherds to help guide me.” He came to understand that he is to share what he knows, inspire those he can, seek advice, and, most of all, “Stay on your knees. Listen to God.” The call on your life may be a bit different than Denzel Washington’s, but you can still pray and follow what you hear the Lord guiding you to do. Are you listening?
