The task force called the July 13th event “preventable.”
The House task force issued a report that stated the July 13 attempted assassination of now-President-elect Trump was “preventable and should not have happened.” The body is investigating both the Butler, Pennsylvania attempt and the second attempt near Trump’s golf course in Florida.
The panel stated, “The various failures in planning, execution, and leadership on and before July 13, 2024, and the preexisting conditions that undermined the effectiveness of the human and material assets deployed that day, coalesced to create an environment in which the former President — and everyone at the campaign event — were exposed to grave danger.”
The task force said the response to the Florida gunman in September “demonstrated how properly executed protective measures can foil an attempted assassination.” The panel noted how the Justice Department and other federal agencies allowed limited access to transcript interviews and other details surrounding the events.
House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that Congress “will work with the incoming Trump Administration to make these changes to significantly improve the security apparatus of the President, Vice President, and all its protectees.”
“We can never again experience such a dangerous and deadly security failure,” he added.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the members of the task force as they finish their investigation of the assassination attempts and provide their conclusions.
- For Speaker Johnson to be discerning as he oversees the House of Representatives.
