Funding goes to public housing agencies aiding adults 25 and under.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development has distributed $1.3 million to twenty-one Public Housing Agencies to continue helping young adults transition out of foster care systems. Youth who have aged out of foster care are more likely to become homeless, and this funding, distributed by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) aims to curb that statistic by providing education, counseling, and supportive services to that demographic.
“Youth transitioning out of foster care need housing stability and access to affordable homes,” said Acting HUD Secretary Adrianne Todman. “With the funding announced today, HUD and local agencies will keep our most vulnerable youth off the streets and in stable environments where they can thrive.”
