Five business support organizations receive funding to support companies across the country.
The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) selected five business support organizations this month to receive $1 million each from its energy incubation program. The multi-phase grant, called the Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC) has three phases “to encourage energy innovation ecosystems, increase local clean energy business productivity, and improve the commercial success of energy tech startups.“
The five businesses were selected from the Phase 1 pool to receive $1 million in Phase 2, and each of those five businesses can now compete in Phase 3. The winner of Phase 3 will receive the chance to negotiate a three-year cooperative agreement with the Energy Department.
“The EPIC program represents a strategic investment in one of our Nation’s best job creation catalysts – the incubator and accelerator community,” said DOE Chief Commercialization Officer and OTT Director Vanessa Chan. “Each year of the program bolsters the tremendous impact these organizations can have on clean tech startups in their communities.”
