Hunter Biden pleaded guilty to gun-related charges and tax misdemeanors.
President Joe Biden issued a pardon to his son Hunter on Sunday. After stating unequivocally earlier this year that he would abide by a jury’s decision with his son pleading guilty to tax and firearms charges, the president changed course and provided Hunter with over ten years of immunity, beginning in 2014, when the elder Biden was in office as vice-president.
The president’s pardon stated, “For those offenses against the United States which he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014, through December 1, 2024, including but not limited to all offenses charged or prosecuted (including any that have resulted in convictions)…“
“No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong,” President Biden said. “I’m pardoning my son because he was targeted as the son of the president. And also the pardon is retroactive to seven years before I took office.”
Hunter Biden stated, “I will never take the clemency I have been given today for granted and will devote the life I have rebuilt to helping those who are still sick and suffering.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For discernment for the president as he issues pardons and takes action in the final weeks of his term.
- For the advisors and members of the president’s administration as they provide recommendations and input into his decisions.
