She met with government leaders and toured the Amazon region in a week-long trip.
Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland concluded a week-long visit to Colombia last week, speaking with governmental officials to learn more about Indigenous-led conservation projects in the Amazon rainforest.
Secretary Haaland first met with her counterpart, Acting Environment Minister Mauricio Cabrera Leal, and the Colombian National Police to discuss ongoing efforts to address wildlife trafficking unique to the area. She then met with Colombian Indigenous leaders to hear how local communities are being economically uplifted alongside native ecosystems.
Secretary Haaland finished her time in Colombia with a tour of the country’s Amazon region, visiting biodiversity projects throughout the area.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Haaland to receive God’s guidance as she oversees the Interior Department.
- For interior officials as they steward land and animal conservation efforts.
