Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Biden’s administration informed Congress of its intention to cancel nearly $5 billion in loans Ukraine owes the U.S. The loan was part of a funding package passed by Congress in April this year. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the administration has “taken the step that was outlined in the law to cancel those loans, provide that economic assistance to Ukraine.“
Pray for wisdom for the president and members of his Cabinet as they make decisions and take action in the remaining weeks of this term.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Members of the Senate came to an agreement to forego confirmation of four of President Biden’s appellate court nominees in return for the confirmation of 13 district judges. This will allow President-elect Trump to fill the circuit court vacancies when his administration takes office.
Pray for members of the federal legislative chambers as they work together on congressional proceedings.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, chaired by Representative Barry Loudermilk of Georgia, released a report alleging that the Defense Department and Inspector General suppressed information regarding the delay of the deployment of the D.C. National Guard on January 6, 2021. The subcommittee stated that the officials “concealed the extent and cause of the delay to protect Department of Defense and Pentagon leadership.“
Pray for members of Senate and House committees as they conduct investigations and oversight hearings into federal agencies and their actions.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The justices of the Supreme Court refused to take up a challenge to two campaign finance laws passed in 2020 by voters in the state of Alaska. The laws require public reporting of donations of over $2,000 in a calendar year to election-influencing groups and the disclosure of out-of-state funding for ads.
Pray for discernment for the Supreme Court justices as they evaluate requests for appeals and injunctions.
