Treasury Secretary Leads Financial Literacy and Education Meeting

She reviews the implementation required for the Treasury’s financial inclusion strategy.

Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen spoke at a meeting of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission this month, discussing how best to implement a strategy released by the department in October. The National Strategy for Financial Inclusion in the United States seeks “to support areas historically underserved“ by financial systems, and boost access to credit services, bank accounts, and other crucial financial tools.

“As we look ahead, I call on my fellow federal agencies and other partners attending today to build on our work to date and take concrete additional steps: to review existing programs and products for opportunities to enhance financial inclusion; to strengthen partnerships; and to share best practices,” said Secretary Yellen. “We can together build a financial system that serves all Americans and fuels innovation and economic growth.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the treasury secretary to seek God’s guidance as she promotes equity and inclusion in the financial system.
  • For U.S. treasury officials as they oversee the nation’s finances and obligations.
