Phoenix metro area is the first to experience the Prime Air program.
Amazon has begun to deliver certain items, weighing five pounds or less, in the area of the Tolleson facility in the Phoenix, Arizona metro. The service delivers in less than an hour. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave Amason’s “Prime Air additional permissions“ that allow the company “to operate our drones beyond visual line of sight” back in May.
The demonstrations that FAA officials based the drone delivery authorization on included “the presence of real planes, helicopters, and a hot air balloon to demonstrate how the drone safely navigated away from each of them.”
The Prime Air program is facility-specific, so the inventory available for the service will vary due to items currently in stock. The drones will only be used in “favorable“ weather during daylight. The company intends to deliver 500 million packages per year via drone.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Administrator Whitaker to receive God’s direction as he heads the FAA.
- That FAA and other Transportation Department officials would be prudent in their reviews and authorizations of new technology.
