Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Peru this Saturday.
Pray for discernment for the president as he meets with international leaders in the final months of his term.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representative Byron Donalds of Florida has recommended the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) be removed from the Department of Homeland Security to directly report to the president. After news broke that FEMA officials bypassed residents impacted by hurricanes due to having Trump flags or signs, the congressman said, “When disaster recovery needs to take place, we need quick answers out of FEMA, not bureaucratic ones that go through the labyrinth of federal departments.”
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they provide oversight for federal agencies.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Education Committee released a report on antisemitism on college campuses after a year-long investigation. Regarding the safety of Jewish students, the report stated, “In multiple cases, these failures came not from mere ignorance or lack of forethought, but rather from intentional decisions by university leaders not to provide their campuses’ Jewish communities the necessary support needed to ensure they felt safe to live on campus or attend classes.”
Pray for the chairs and members of congressional committees as they conduct probes into societal concerns.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A panel from the D.C. Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals decided that the Council on Environmental Quality overstepped its authority in its attempt to regulate how all federal agencies comply with the National Environmental Policy Act. The ruling showed that regulations and guidance passed by the council are not laws.
Pray for wisdom for district and appellate judges as they hear and issue decisions regarding the environment and federal regulations.
