Transportation Secretary Announces Funding to Improve Small Air Services

14 states are set to restore and improve flight routes to rural communities.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $12 million to 14 small air service programs in rural areas, allowing small communities to maintain and diversify their air service options. These new grant recipients were selected from 40 applicants and were chosen for their plans for public-private partnership. Some also provided letters of support from air carriers interested in expanding to their area.

“People in small communities across the country depend on local air service—as a resource in their lives and as a driver for growth in regional economies,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “With the funding we’re announcing today, the Department is strengthening local air service in 14 smaller communities and helping Americans across the country get to where they need to go more efficiently and affordably.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Buttigieg and Transportation officials as they select applicants for program funding.
  • For the small air service recipients to put the funding to efficient and beneficial use.
