Issue 671 – National Prayer Needs

Additional National Prayer Needs

Pray for America’s Military

The U.S. and Japan engaged in 10 days of joint drills not long after China held a large military exercise around Taiwan. Keen Sword 25 included U.S. and Japanese ground, maritime, and air forces in precision drills and even expeditionary medicine. Australian forces also participated in the exercises.

Pray for American and allied military commanders to be discerning in their preparations and defenses.

PRAY FOR AN END TO THE WAR IN UKRAINE

Russia attacked Kyiv and Kharkiv this week, sending drones, missiles, and bombs to the sites at night. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the war is being pushed “beyond borders“ as North Korean troops have joined Russian forces. He also claimed that Ukraine has only received ten percent of the military aid that Congress approved this year.

Pray that U.S. and allied leaders would be prudent in their support of Ukraine.

Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

The U.S. is prepared to back Israel’s defense after that nation’s air force attacked Iran’s long-range surface-to-air missile batteries. While Israel left Iran’s oil and nuclear facilities alone at the behest of the U.S. and other Western nations, the IDF reported that Iran’s strategic defense and production capabilities have been destroyed for the near future.

Pray for Israeli and allied officials as they assess the status of conflicts in the Middle East.

Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

The Food and Drug Administration announced another product recall over the possible listeria contamination of frozen waffles and pancakes from TreeHouse Foods. The affected products, sold under various brand names at Aldi, Walmart, and Target, were produced in the company’s Brantford, Ontario, Canada, facility.

Pray for U.S. health officials as they report, track, and investigate the sources of bacterial food contamination.

Pray for Needs Across the States

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo plans to deploy the state’s National Guard to ensure election security on November 5. The governor, and former sheriff of Clark County, stated, “As a first responder, I know first-hand the importance of being prepared, and this decision reflects my commitment to safety and preparedness on Election Day.”

The office of the Colorado Secretary of State posted a document online that included voting system passwords. The Colorado Department of State responded, “A spreadsheet located on the Department’s website improperly included a hidden tab including partial passwords to certain components of Colorado voting systems. This does not pose an immediate security threat to Colorado’s elections, nor will it impact how ballots are counted.“

Pray for wisdom for governors and secretaries of state as they oversee the election process.

Pray for America’s Faith Community

“This is from 1 Peter chapter 2, verses 20-24, and it’s important because it specifically describes your calling and mine as followers of Jesus. And this is what it means to look, and sound, and act like Jesus, okay? Here’s what the Holy Spirit tells you and me to do, if we want to be like Christ, if we want to fulfill our calling to glorify Him. 1 Peter chapter 2 says, ‘It is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering. But if you suffer for doing good, and you endure, this is also commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in His steps.‘ The passage goes on to say, ‘He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth. When they hurled insults at Him, He did not retaliate. When He suffered, He made no threats. Instead, He trusted Himself to Him who judges justly. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. For by His wounds you have been healed.‘
Now, there’s a lot in there, but basically, this shows how we are to respond to suffering.“ – Joni Eareckson Tada, Sharing Hope, October 2024
