Praying for Our Leaders in Government
Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The U.S. Departments of Treasury and State imposed fresh sanctions against 400 individuals and entities for support of Russia. The targets of this action were from more than a dozen nations, including Russia, India, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Turkey, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland.
Pray for U.S. department heads as they assess the use and efficacy of sanctions against adversarial coalitions.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island has called for updates to the Insurrection Act and Posse Comitatus Act to stop a president from using the military against “enemies within.“ The Insurrection Act, passed in 1792, permits the president to deploy the military domestically in some situations; however, the Posse Comitatus Act, from 1878, stops the military from being used as domestic law enforcement.
Pray for senators and representatives as they consider improvements to federal laws.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
A U.S. House Energy Subcommittee heard testimony this fall regarding the U.S. organ supply system. During a hearing on the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) updates and modernization to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN), witnesses highlighted the lack of transparency in the process of selecting OPTN board members. They also testified that organ procurement organizations pressured medical professionals to remove organs from living patients.
Pray for discernment for committee and subcommittee chairs and members as they investigate government contractors and hear testimony from witnesses.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
An amicus brief has been filed by the governors of ten states in the case of the United States v. Skrmetti before the Supreme Court. The governors support upholding the ability of states to ban puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapies, and transgender surgeries for minors.
Pray for the Supreme Court justices to protect children and teens from the lifelong impact of transgender interventions.
